Dear Colleague,

I had a dilemma.

I had multiple software systems and education systems both trying to accomplish the common goal of efficiency. Nothing was available that would manage the everyday clinic including; billing, notes and patient education in a seamless fashion. I tried tirelessly to accomplish this task with multiple software systems working independently. I was always striving for the goal of maximum efficiency with the lowest possible overhead and never reaching it. With rising overhead costs I needed to find new ways to streamline our office procedures while increasing patient visits and attracting new patients.

In conversations with my colleagues, I found out they were grappling with the same dilemma. All seemed to face four overwhelming questions:

  1. How do I maximize my time?
  2. How do I improve my patient notes and maintain the same level of care?
  3. How do I educate my patients consistently and systematically while being efficient?
  4. How do I save staff time while increasing our patient office visits?

I realized I was falling into the same professional “potholes” as those I’d spoken with! As a Chiropractor, I faced the same crisis of confidence with my office software that most of you have. Ours is a unique fraternity and there was clearly nothing available that met our professional needs.

And being the “computer-naïve” person I am, I thought, “Well, I guess I’ll just create a software program that meets the needs of my colleagues and myself.” Atlas was born by combining all the tools I needed for my practice into one fully integrated system.

Like evaluating a new patient, I was equally as objective in diagnosing my practice. I dissected it from the inside-out …leaving no process…no “system” unevaluated – or “undiagnosed.”

Then I sat down and began developing a “laundry list” of all the problems my practice was facing. I even met with colleagues to get their “laundry lists” and then I approached a patient (who happens to be a computer genius!) to assist me in my efforts.

First we examined everything available today – I mean anything and everything specifically developed to assist chiropractors. I had never gone into the process in this much depth before, but ..


…frankly, I was taken back by the cost and intractability?? of the systems that supposedly “met my every need” as a practicing Chiropractor.


I wanted a system that was customizable, because no two practices are alike, yet I wanted a strong foundation for my CA’s to make their jobs less stressful and more productive. I wanted my CA’s to help grow my practice and not just file and shuffle paperwork and patient schedules. Coincidentally, I found out my practice needed less staff time once the program was in place, even though I was seeing more patients. Not only were the CA’s excited, they were less stressed, obviously happier and it translated into more internal referrals and patient growth.

I wasn’t the only one that had input in the design of the software system. We have had input from hundreds of chiropractors in 11 countries and with just as many CA’s helping us with the process.
