What does being a chiropractor and developing a successful software business have in common?  Being a chiropractor for 15 years and the President of a worldwide software company Dr. Stephane has the answer.

“Applying the chiropractic philosophy from inside out for software design and framework is huge.   Being principled and compassionate about helping chiropractors serve more patients has been the driving force.”

The Team
In 2005 Dr. Stephane approached one of his patients, Randy Godfrey, who was a computer programmer with over 35 years of experience to join in an effort so solve some of his office problems.  Randy, having achieved a mastery of complex technologies was able to put a plan in place that was representative of Chiropractic.

Dr. Stephane states that having the right team, right work ethic and all with a common goal of serving the chiropractic profession, has been the success behind Atlas.

He says that “Without people it’s impossible to put your ideas into action and your ideas simply sit on the shelf like a good book that has never been read.”

Hard Work
Dr. Stephane realized a long time ago that Atlas would never be finished.  His commitment to all Atlas clients is to continue to improve, be innovative and be a chiropractic leader when it comes to software development and design.  The software improvements are a combination of the ideas from the Atlas team, doctors and CA’s worldwide.  Having a worldwide presence has helped achieve diversity in software options and customizability that is not found elsewhere.

Leadership
As Co-Founder of Atlas, Dr. Stephane, is interested in helping chiropractor’s achieve a competitive edge and to being efficient while maintaining a high standard of care for their patients.

He holds a D.C. degree in chiropractic from National college of chiropractic, now called National University of Health and Sciences.  He attributes his clinical skills to his Alma Mater and his chiropractic philosophy to life experience.  He practiced chiropractic for 10 years before developing Atlas, Chirovmail and Atlas Power Pay. He enjoys putting ideas into practice.

Randy Godfrey
Randy Godfrey is a graduate of Northern College with a degree in Computer Science. He has been involved in computer programming for the healthcare industry, telecommunications, accounting industry and the transportation industry. His education has been more than 40 years of experience, not only in application development, but in database administration, maintenance programmer and as a software engineer. In those 40 years his experience has allowed him to take part in major projects for Northern Telephone, a division of Bell Telephone and Meyers transport. His software development skills in the last 5 years have been priceless in the development of the Atlas Chiropractic System Software. He has also been involved in other projects like ChiroVmail, a video email based software web application that communicates directly with the Atlas system via the latest in .Net framework. He also has extensive knowledge and experience with Oracle,Fox pro and .Net. He has also enjoyed great success as a system performance analyst and in data recovery.

Since his early experiences with computers, his philosophy has been that computers should make life easier for people - not make life more complicated. To his horror, once he started in the computing field he discovered there are too many systems that seem to be designed to make life more difficult. He resolved then that he would always develop applications that were easy to use - the real 'user friendly'.

He learned early in his career that if you want to design a user friendly solution, you must always involve the people who are going to use the system in the design of that system. By involving the users you develop a solution that does exactly what the users need - not what someone else, who does not even know what the users actually do, think they need.

It seems that his career has come full circle. Over 35 years ago he started in the health care field with a management company that owned a number of nursing homes across Ontario. Now he enjoys a full time position managing a development team for Atlas Chiropractic System and ChiroVmail. The Atlas project has been a joy in his life with the satisfaction of being the team leader and setting the pace for the Atlas development schedule. He enjoys communicating with the Atlas users chiropractic health assistants and chiropractors to decide the future course for the Atlas software.

It has been great switching to Atlas from the other software we were using. The data conversion went off with out a hitch. Within a week we were ‘fluent’ with the system, so no down time. I couldn’t imagine doing without it!
